Hokkien Mee at Jalan Sungai Ara 1, Sungai Ara

This roadside stall in Sungai Ara is one of the best spots to dig into a hearty bowl of hokkien mee. Not to be confused with the KL version of hokkien mee, which is a noodle dish stir-fried with thick dark soy sauce, Penang Hokkien Mee is made out of prawn broth and is usually served with water spinach, prawns, eggs and a tablespoon of chilli paste. If you’re eating it outside of Penang, you’re not getting the real thing.
