Penang Island is a 20-minute ferry ride from Butterworth. There are two bridges connecting the island to the mainland: Penang Bridge and the Second Penang Bridge (Jambatan Sultan Abdul Halim Mu’adzam Shah). Penang International Airport sees incoming international flights from many countries such as China, Singapore, Thailand, Indonesia, Vietnam and Qatar.


Langkawi Island is a 2 hour 45 minute ferry ride away, or a short 35-minute flight. Malaysia’s capital Kuala Lumpur is a 50-minute flight away, or can alternatively be reached by a four-hour train or car ride.
Kota Kinabalu, the state capital of Sabah, can be reached by flight in 2 hour and 40 minutes.
