After getting your nature fix, walk around Bukit Mertajam's charming old town. Don’t forget to drop by the old family home of Penang's first Chief Minister Tan Sri Wong Pow Nee on Jalan Datuk Ooh Chooi Cheng. The house, which dates back to 1907, has overgrown plants on its roof and vines covering the walls. The Seberang Perai City Council recognises the house's historical values by placing a plaque at its five-foot way.

Start your day right by reconnecting with nature at Taman Rimba Bukit Mertajam. Also known as Cherok Tokun Nature Park, this tropical forest is a relaxing spot to spend time with loved ones. For an extra challenge, try to find the giant Mengkundur tree with roots equalling the height of two adults! For a less strenuous day out, a gentle stroll around the forest’s well-paved trails and paths will rejuvenate you just as well. The park is temporarily closed until further notice.

A lifetime chance to see the nocturnal wonders of the Penang Hill's rainforest. Many animals, especially insects, amphibians, and reptiles, hide from predators during the day. Start your day bright and early at Entopia by Penang Butterfly Farm, which is the world’s first tropical butterfly and insect sanctuary. Within its ground lies two worlds; The Natureland living outdoor gardens and The Cocoon indoor discovery centre. The Natureland is a living garden vivarium, and it is the largest butterfly and dragonfly garden in Malaysia with 15,000 free-flying butterflies at any one time. Curry Mee at Sister Curry Mee, Air Itam The octogenarian sisters at Sister Curry Mee have made a name for themselves as a living heritage who serve curry mee cooked over a charcoal stove. The sister’s two signature ingredients are the chilli paste and the special cuttlefish with chilli base.The stall is now managed by their granddaughter.
