12 May St. George’s Church
Built in 1818, St. George’s Church stands as one of the oldest landmarks in Malaysia and is the oldest Anglican Church in South East Asia. It was gazetted by the Museum Department as a historical site in 1996 and subsequently listed as one of Malaysia’s 50 National Heritage Treasures in 2007. Restored in 2010, the Parish of St. George The Martyr remains a place of worship for the Anglican community and a priceless heritage to the people of Penang.
